Creative Style Sponsor for Empire Interiors Interior Design Workshop

4 - Copy

This month Airstep Flooring sponsored Empire Interiors Sacred Space Interior Design Workshop which was a fun filled, educational workshop showing budding interior designers how to tap into their own creative instincts while learning the foundation principles of interior design.

Airstep Flooring came on board as a ‘Creative Style Sponsor’ and our floors were used as various colour options during the ‘moodboard’ creation session.

We are inspired by Empire Interiors thoughts on what Interior Design is and were delighted to be a part of the special workshop. “Interior design is about finding your own individual aesthetic and we want to help you uncover that so that you can unleash it into the world… or even just your own living room… no pressure. You already have everything you need inside you to create beautiful interiors. It’s just a matter of uncovering your inner creative.”

Empire Interiors have released dates for their second event – for more information visit: http://www.empireinteriors.com.au/

Our floors are so easy to install that even our accountant achieved perfection!

Our Group Financial Controller recently became a customer to Airstep Flooring with the purchase of Eucalyptus Steps Blackbutt laminate flooring. He laid the flooring in his family home with no previous installation experience, and the team here at AF were very interested in seeing the result. What was achieved was absolute perfection (with no blood, sweat and tears) that we just had to share his after shot above with you to see the results for yourself.

A DIY flooring installation can be a rewarding project if you have the right tools, materials, instructions, and skills for the floor type you want to install. The level of difficulty, time and effort required to complete a professional looking flooring installation will vary depending on the floor type you choose and the base you plan to install over. Some types, like laminate, are easier to install than others, such as a glue-down vinyl floor. We would love to feature your floors on our website – please email flooring@airstep.com.au with photos and flooring details of your Airstep Flooring masterpiece for us to showcase.

2017 New Year’s Home Resolution

MetroFlor 5G - Lotus TL6003 1

As we reflect on 2016 and make our list of resolutions, the comfort of your home is a great place to start. Try something new and different to celebrate the New Year by giving your home an updated look with hard flooring. Offering true-to-life detail and on-trend designs, hard floors are not only easy to maintain, they are well-suited to the Australian climate as they are cool underfoot in summer months yet can be warmed with underfloor heating in winter. Hard flooring is not only unique to other flooring options like carpet and tiles, but it is also the perfect facelift for your home for 2017.

Not sure where to start? Update the heart of your home first – the living room. It’s where family gather to relax or entertain guests. With a few small changes, you can turn even the dreariest living room into a timeless space using the right flooring design. This will also set the tone for the rest of the house. Our style prediction for 2017 are boards with lighter colour designs appealing to those who prefer a natural look. It ties in nicely with Pantones colour of the year, Greenery – A per Pantones website; ‘Greenery is nature’s neutral. The more submerged people are in modern life, the greater their innate craving to immerse themselves in the physical beauty and inherent unity of the natural world.’

Try our MetroFlor 5G laminate boards in colour Lotus for a natural look:

Or for a more contemporary style in a light colour our PERGO Living Expressions laminate longboards in Modern Grey Oak is the perfect option to lift a space and add more light and personality:

What does your floors AC Rating mean?

ES107-Reclaimed-Flooded-Gum-Room-Scene-1

AC Ratings – Determining Durability

The Abrasion Class rating system (also known as AC rating), is the industry standard for determining the durability of a laminate product. AC ratings are assigned after extensive product testing, including testing for impact resistance and potential abrasion from furniture legs and castors. If a floor meets or exceeds the basic requirements in all of these areas, it is assigned an AC rating between 1 and 5, with 5 being the highest and thus most durable (suitable for heavy commercial traffic). Below is a quick overview of the 5 AC ratings:

  • AC1: Suitable for home use with minimal foot traffic, such as in guest rooms.
  • AC2: Suitable for home use with medium foot traffic, such as in a dining room or living room.
  • AC3: Suitable for home use with all levels of foot traffic, including high-traffic areas such as entryways, kitchens, family rooms, and playrooms.
  • AC4: Suitable for home use in all traffic areas and for standard commercial use, such as in office buildings.
  • AC5: Suitable for heavy commercial traffic, such as in hotels or department stores.

Laminate floors that fail any of the durability tests are not AC certifiable and are thus labelled ‘Unrated’ and generally will not hold up well under long-term use. You can feel confident knowing all Airstep Flooring laminate floors are certified AC4 which is suitable and durable for home use in all traffic areas and for standard commercial use, such as in office buildings.
